In 1979 Gem Lumber became Metropolitan Lumber & Hardware. From humble beginnings in a small trailer, Met Lumber began with three locations 15 employees and just 4 trucks. We have evolved and responded to changing residential zoning laws over the last 20 years, positioning us as the primary provider of construction supplies, material and delivery.

Following the lumberyard, our flagship store in Midtown NYC opened in January of 1980. Our fourth location opened in Jamaica in 1987, followed by our fifth location in Astoria. We have a vast and diversified catalog of tools and lumber at each of our five locations in the New York area.
